European Parliament resolution on Belarus

On 2 April the European Parliament voted for a resolution urging Belarus authorities to improve in human rights and making democratizing changes such as freedom of association, assembly and religion. Another topic was to organize free and fair elections.

The EP also wants Belarus to aknowledge the Union of Poles working in Belarus, to reconsider cases of forced drafting into the army, and to create conditions for the exiled univeristy European Humanities University (EHU)  to come back and work freely within Belarus.

The EP is ready to ask the Council and Commission to lift the travel bans and also to contribute to an easier reintegration of Belarus into Europe, if the recommendations are realized by the government.
