Training “Local Elections: Building Capacity”

Training “Local Elections: Building Capacity”

We would hereby like to invite you to apply for the upcoming IFLRY Training “Local Elections: Building Capacity for Young Candidates and Campaigners”. The event will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from November 3-5, 2017.

The IFLRY Belarus and Ukraine Programme is organizing a series of events to support youth activists in the upcoming local election campaign in Belarus. In November there will be two events hosted in Vilnius. The first one will focus on organizational capacity building during election campaigns, the second one will be an extensive training on content-preparation, campaign-design and practical dissemination of the campaign. In the first event on capacity building youth activists will learn from the international and local trainers about the tools and methods of campaign- and activity planning, professional cooperation with donors, organization of team work, distribution of tasks and project management. Participants will also learn how to define problems and target groups for their campaigning activities and how to adjust their campaigning activities to those target-groups.

The specific targeted learning outcomes of the event are as follows:
• The participants learn how to organize an election campaign, to plan resources and define target-groups.
• They understand how to manage a campaigning team and how to recruit additional multipliers.
• They profit from best-practice provided by international trainers.
• They boost their campaigning efforts by inter-organizational cooperation.

As usual IFLRY will organize the event within the framework of non-formal education which means that the trainers will use an extensive participatory approach to include the ideas of the participants and achieve outcomes that are useful and realistic for implementation in the Belarusian environment. Short input and best-practice sessions will be framed by extensive group-work and direct cooperation of the participants.

We encourage applicants to also consider their availability for the second event which will take place from 23rd to 26th November 2017 to get the best learning outcomes of the project. Of course it is also possible to apply only for one of the two events, e.g. if you already have fixed roles for the campaign within your organization.

The call is open until the 11th of October 2017.
